The kerosene heater is viewed by many as a heating source of the long forgotten past. However, it can still be a very inexpensive and effective heating source in some situations. Camping, for instance, is a great setting for the use of this type of heat source since nights in the wilderness can often get nippy.
There are many different sizes and styles of kerosene heaters available on the market today, all with large BTU output. This means you should be able to find something as big or as small as you need to keep your tent heated and toasty warm throughout the night.
Kerosene is a relatively cheap fuel to consume when electricity just isn’t available. It can be stored for long periods of time so there is no waste if you happen to purchase more fuel than you use on your outdoor adventure. As long as it is kept in its proper container and stored away from food and other consumables you should be able to use kerosene fuel for well over a year after it has been purchased.
Many consider them to be a much safer alternative to gas heating systems as well since there is lesser risk of injury from fume inhalation or accidental fire. Typically if a kerosene model gets knocked over it will just go out, as compared to a gas heater that might explode.
There are also very portable devices to use for travel. All you have to do is pack your portable kerosene heater with the rest of your camping gear, fill it with fuel when you’re ready to use it and then light it. In a matter of seconds it will be putting off waves of warmth in your sleeping area so you can sit back and relax.
There are no wires and cords to worry about tripping over, there is no pilot light to fight with and there is no long wait period for heat to start radiating either. Fill it and forget so you can get on with having fun in the great outdoors with your friends and family.
When you’re done hiking, fishing and climbing for the day you can kick back by your kerosene heater and read a book, have a pleasant conversation with friends and family or just snuggle up and get a good night’s rest. In the morning, one flip of a switch and the heater will turn off without you having to throw dirt on it like you would have to for a campfire.
You’ll be very appreciative of the fact that you didn’t have to go out and find firewood, struggle getting a fire to start and then get up and down all night to keep it going. While people in other campsites are busy doing this you are busy dreaming next to your own warm and cozy heat source.
